Cropping Your Photographs

Cropping Your Photographs
Often photographs will have too much extra material around the edge, which distracts from the subject. Removing this extra material and zooming in on the subject is called Cropping and will often improve the visual impact of the photograph.

The three examples below demonstrate how by cropping and focussing on the subject in the photograph the visual impact is improved.

'Web Resizer' Tutorial – Cropping your photograph:

Click the ‘Crop Image’ link next to the Scissors icon. A dotted box will appear on the left hand ‘Optimized Image’, with 8 handles (small boxes) position around the outside of the box. Using your mouse, click and drag the handles to resize the dotted box. When you have positioned the dotted box to your liking, click the ‘apply changes’ button below the image. The cropped image will then be displayed. The cropping can be undone by clicking the ‘undo crop’ link at the top.
